VA Software Adds Andrew Anker To Board Of Directors
Pioneering internet media and advertising figure to further extend VA Software's leadership position in internet media markets
Fremont, California September 22, 2004 VA Software Corporation (Nasdaq: LNUX), provider of SourceForge® Enterprise Edition, and parent company of OSTG, the Open Source Technology Group (OSTG), the leading technical network serving enterprise IT managers and development professionals, today announced that Andrew Anker has joined its board of directors effective September 20, 2004. Anker brings more than 17 years of experience in the areas of internet media, advertising, technology and financial analysis.

Mr. Anker is Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, for Six Apart, a weblog software and services firm. From 1998 through 2003, Anker was a General Partner with August Capital where he invested in consumer facing internet companies and led the partnership's investments in such companies as Tickle, Listen.com (creators of Rhapsody) and Evite. Prior to August Capital, Anker co-founded and was Chief Executive Officer of Wired Digital, Inc., a pioneering Internet news and media organization which launched the first advertising supported web site (HotWired) in 1994. Anker led Wired Digital from its founding through 1998 and built it into one of the 20 largest networks of web sites.
