VA Software Appoints Sheila Baker Senior Vice President of Marketing
Industry Veteran to Drive Strategic Marketing of the SourceForge Global Development Platform
FREMONT, California June 7, 2004 VA Software Corporation (Nasdaq: LNUX), provider of the industry-leading global development platform SourceForge Enterprise Edition, and parent company of OSDN, the largest technical network serving enterprise IT and development professionals, today announced the appointment of technology marketing veteran Sheila Baker as Senior Vice President, Marketing. Baker will report to Ali Jenab, president and CEO of VA Software, and will be responsible for all VA Software marketing activities worldwide

Baker is a highly experienced technology marketing and sales executive with proven results at leading open-source and technology companies such as MontaVista Software, The Santa Cruz Operation, Apollo Computer and Raytheon. She recently completed three years at MontaVista Software, serving as Vice President, Marketing, where she drove company strategy, product requirements and positioning, brand awareness and demand creation initiatives. At The Santa Cruz Operation, she held several executive-level positions most recently as vice president of US channel sales. Baker's relevant technology marketing, sales and engineering management experience totals more than 20 years. She holds a BS in Computer Science and Economics from State University of New York at Albany, and an MS in Management from Northeastern University.
