VA Software Introduces SourceForge for CMM

Announces SourceForge Collaborative Development Process and Alliance with SSQC

FREMONT, Calif. February 25, 2003 VA Software Corporation (Nasdaq: LNUX) today unveiled the SourceForge™ Collaborative Development Process (CDP)a software development methodology delivering best practices for building best quality software.

Designed to leverage the development, collaboration and project management tools included in SourceForge Enterprise Edition, the CDP gives organizations the flexibility they need to implement processes that work. The SourceForge CDP provides a complete set of materials that address the needs of a wide range of development organizations:

  • New development organizations can use the SourceForge CDP as a roadmap for implementing best practices and procedures quickly for each stage of the application development lifecycle;
  • Mature organizations can use the SourceForge CDP to support their software process improvement initiatives and prepare for assessments based on industry standards such as the Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM);
  • Organizations with more specific goals can use the SourceForge CDP as a framework that allows them to identify and focus on specific areas for improvement;

In related news, VA Software today announced its alliance with Software Systems Quality Consulting ( software processconsulting firm based in San Jose, California. SSQC brings more than 10 years of experience in assisting software and systems providers in their engineering practices. VA Software and SSQC have agreed to partner on indepth consulting engagements to help companies fully leverage SourceForge Enterprise Edition in pursuing SWCMM Levels 2 and 3.
