SourceForge in the SEWP

Leading Development Intelligence application now available through IBM on NASA’s SEWP III Government Wide Acquisition Vehicle

FREMONT, Calif. January 08, 2003 VA Software Corporation (Nasdaq: LNUX) today announced that SourceForge Enterprise Edition[tm], the leading Development Intelligence application, is now a featured Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) on the NASA Scientific & Engineering Workstation Procurement III contract vehicle (SEWP III) through one of its prime Vendors, IBM Corporation.

Providing the latest in Information Technology products and services, the NASA SEWP III contract is a GovernmentWide Acquisition Contract vehicle that offers a vast selection of advanced UNIX, Linux and Windows based technology products and services to all Federal Agencies including Department of Defense and their authorized contractors.

The availability of SourceForge as a CLIN on IBM’s SEWP contract is a direct result of the commercial agreement signed by IBM and VA Software in August 2002, and delivers immediate benefit to their joint public sector prospects, partners, and customers. Through both IBM and VA Software, government agencies can now gain a complete software development solution to solve the complex software development challenges engendered by increasingly limited and distributed development teams and resources.

“When Government agencies and their key contractors develop software, absolute quality without increasing project timelines and costs is the only measure of success” said David Appelbaum, senior vicepresident of marketing at VA Software. “By combining collaborative development tools, a centralized knowledge repository and realtime project metrics in a single application, SourceForge is uniquely able to deliver best quality software and development processes such as the CMM, across an entire project lifecycle. By working with IBM as a CLIN on SEWP III, it’s never been faster, easier, and more cost effective for Government organizations and their contractors to achieve Development Intelligence for all their software development initiatives.”

Information on pricing and ordering SourceForge for Government agencies and their approved contractors is available on the NASA SEWP web site or on IBM at

Providing the latest in Information Technology (IT) products and services, the NASA Scientific & Engineering Workstation Procurement III (SEWP) contract vehicle has an outstanding track record of serving up fresh technology for federal agencies. SEWP is a Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) consisting of twentytwo contracts, including eleven small business contracts, that offer a vast selection and wide range of advanced technology UNIX, Linux and Windows based workstations and servers along with peripherals, network equipment, storage devices and other IT products to all Federal Agencies (including Department of Defense) and their authorized contractors.

SEWP offers low prices (generally below GSA schedule prices), the lowest surcharge (0.65%), the easiest and fastest ordering procedure (contracts were awarded through a Full and Open Competition).
