VA Software Promotes Ali Jenab to CEO
Founder Larry M. Augustin Steps Aside as CEO, Remains Chairman of the Board
FREMONT, Calif. July 10, 2002 VA Software Corporation (Nasdaq: LNUX), provider of SourceForge[tm], the leading collaborative software development platform, announced today that Ali Jenab has been promoted to chief executive officer and will also retain the title of president. Mr. Jenab is succeeding founder Larry M. Augustin, who is relinquishing his CEO duties while still remaining as chairman of the VA Software board of directors.
Mr. Jenab, 39, first joined VA in the fall of 2000, and has served as president and chief operating officer since February 2001. His experience in large-scale enterprise IT solutions, combined with his operational expertise, has been instrumental in building VA Software’s business around SourceForge. During his seventeen-year tenure at Amdahl Corporation, Mr. Jenab served in numerous executive management positions including group president of Amdahl’s Technology Division, vice president of strategic business and vice president of worldwide marketing.
